From August 31st to September 8th, the city will come together to celebrate the abundance of apples and other local produce, all while raising awareness of the struggles our farmers face following the closure of BC Tree Fruits and the devastating frost that wiped out this season's stone fruits.

Kelowna Apple Fest was created out of a deep need to support our local small family farmers who are facing unprecedented challenges this year. The closure of BC Tree Fruits has left over 300 farmers without a reliable place to sell their apples and other produce. On top of that, a severe frost earlier this season wiped out all the stone fruits like peaches and nectarines, adding to the already difficult circumstances.
Without a strong distribution network, many farmers are struggling to keep their operations afloat. Some are faced with the heartbreaking decision of selling their apples for a fraction of their value or letting them go to waste because they can’t afford to harvest them.
Kelowna Apple Fest is our way of rallying the community to support these farmers. Through this event, we aim to bring awareness to their struggles, provide new opportunities for selling their produce, and foster a sense of community solidarity. By participating in Apple Fest, you’re not just enjoying the best apples the Okanagan has to offer—you’re helping to sustain the livelihoods of the people who grow them.

The Kelowna Farmers' and Crafters' Market is the central hub for Kelowna Apple Fest activities.
Throughout the week, this vibrant market will be the epicenter of apple-themed activities, offering everything from fresh apple varieties to artisanal products inspired by the harvest.
